Elizabeth Pittsman, freshman Medical Imaging major
Pittsman’s favorite Halloween movie turned out to be one of the most iconic. “’The Conjuring’ definitely scared me the most,” she said. She continued by saying, “It was just too real. It was terrifying.” Pittsman said the scariest part were all of the jump scares throughout the film.
Hope Zenger, freshman Early Childhood Education major
Zenger said her favorite horror or Halloween, movie was the newest of the “Terrifier series,” “Terrifier 3.” She said that the third movie scared her the most because it had a variety of gore, the worst of which was an unnecessary amount of vomit scenes. “I hate throw up,” said Zenger. She continued by saying that Art the Clown is her favorite character.
Elijah Curtis, freshman Psychology major
Curtis had more trouble than most deciphering between the variety of horror movies he’s indulged in. “It’s a toughie but I’d have to say that I really enjoy movies that kind of break through the conventions of the horror genre itself.” Then again, Curtis seemed to also enjoy the stereotypical characteristics of the horror genre. In the end, he said “Halloween” was his favorite horror movie.
Owen Amato, freshman Political Science major
Amato had another well-known favorite Halloween film to share: “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” Like most, it was a film he grew up watching and enjoying for years and years. “I’ve always loved it,” he said. Amato’s favorite character in the film is the main lead, Jack Skellington.
Josh Tierney, junior Exercise Science major
Believe it or not, Tierney felt the same way as the previous student and chose “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” “It’s just one of the best movies ever,” he said. Tierney continued on to say that his favorite character is, of course, the main lead, Jack Skellington. He’s even taken his love to the next step and has dressed up as him for Halloween in the past.
Sofia Agudelo, freshman Environmental Studies major
Agudelo had a hard time choosing and was between the “Saw” franchise or “Sinister 2.” “I really like ‘Sinister 2’ because of the well written story line. I really like the brothers in the movie and the killer is well written,” she said. Agudelo also finds the “Saw” movies very interesting and produced with a good story line. When asked her favorite character she said, “The little boy in ‘Sinister 2’ and Jigsaw from the ‘Saw’ movies. The old man from ‘Jigsaw’ is my favorite but I also hate him.”
Alejandra Alfaro, freshman Health Science major with a Medical Science specialization
Alfaro’s favorite horror movie isn’t just one, but the whole “Conjuring” series. “My favorite one is basic but it has to be the first one. It has a great story but it’s a classic and the best. I love that it’s based off a true story.” She really enjoys the series and says her favorite scenes are any that are filled with jump scares. “When the mom plays hide and clap… it’s so so scary,” she said.
Cara Doyle, freshman Diagnostic Medical Sonography major
Doyle’s favorite horror movie is “Truth or Dare.” “I don’t watch many horror movies but Truth or Dare was really entertaining for me.” When asked about her favorite character she said doesn’t really remember one she related to; however, she thinks the horror and jump scares in the movie are very scary and effective.
Ryan Supancik, freshman Sports Management major
Supancik said his favorite horror movie is the “Halloween” made in 2018, specifically. He said his favorite character would be the main reason behind the films, Michael Myers. “I wouldn’t dress up as him but he’s a really great character and the movie is really good.”
Carter Benson, freshman Mass Communications major
Carter Benson’s favorite horror movie is “Friday the 13th.” “I recently watched the movie with my brother and I really liked it.” His favorite character is Jason, the main villain, but his love doesn’t go as deep as to dress up as him for Halloween.
