Dear Students –
I am thrilled to welcome everyone back to campus for the 2024-2025 academic year and the celebration of our 100th year as an institution of higher education.
The opportunity to commemorate a 100th anniversary is a rare one. I hope you will all take part in the various events this fall and during the year that are designed to engage you learning, making social connections, and preparing you for a successful future. Please be a part of our community and you will get to know your fellow students, faculty, and staff and understand the legacy of our founders, the Sisters of Mercy.
Our new first-year students are one of the largest incoming groups in university history. Combined with the amazing students who are already living and studying on campus, we will enjoy a robust atmosphere of diverse individuals coming together as OneMU.
This year I hope to see you at music ensemble performances, stunt competitions, wrestling matches, and ice hockey games in addition to all the other activities!
Over the summer when most of you were away, the main entrance to Mercy Hall was repaired and revitalized to welcome guests during our 100th year. Murals depicting the history of the university are expected to be installed soon in Mercy Hall. In addition, Passan Hall received extensive renovations to allow for the expansion of facilities for nursing and speech-language pathology. And, out in Ohio, our baseball team won the national championship…but I bet you knew that)!
Each year via this letter, I have asked for your help, and I do the same this year. As you return to campus and engage in campus life, share your experience at Misericordia with people you know. Use social media or just wear your MU merchandise when you are out in the world. You, and your successes, are the best advertising this university has. Be yourself, be “MU,” and help us prosper. I wish you all the best for a great year ahead.
Sincerely,
Daniel J. Myers, Ph.D., President
