Corra Sevara, freshman Biology major
She joined the Drama club as well as the school’s annual play. Corra was cast as Miss Casewell in “The Mouse Trap” a murder mystery. Corra has been involved in theatre since her sophomore year of high school. She says, “’The Mouse Trap’ will have everyone on the edge of their seats until the dramatic end.” She is most excited to perform the play in November.
James McBride, sophomore Mass Communications major
James McBride joined The Latin American Student Association (LASA), which he said he joined to learn about Spanish culture, the Black Student Union (BSU), and he started his own club called UVB. James says he became the president of UVB, “a frat for the school” to make Misericordia a more fun, educated, and inclusive place. James is most excited for the R&B Mixer to be thrown by BSU next Wednesday and the homecoming pep rally and afterparty UVB will hold.
Sarah Greco, freshman Diagnostic Medical Sonography major
Sarah joined the Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) club for her major and the dance team because she wanted to continue dancing, something she’s been doing for 10 years. She loves “jazz, tap, and musical theater” dancing. Sarah is excited to dance for the football and basketball teams during games, specifically half-time for football. She is also excited for the club fair hosted by the dance team September 28, 2024.
Hope Zeneger, freshman Childhood Education major
Hope Zeneger joined the Latin American Student Association (LASA), the Be Kind club, and the Teacher Education club. She says she joined LASA and the Be Kind club because they looked like fun and the Teacher Education club because it is a part of her major. She says she hopes to make the clubs her safe spaces on campus. Hope is excited to get involved and work events. She said her excitement is a 1,000 on a scale of 1-10.
Victoria Melton, sophomore Occupational Therapy major
Victoria will graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in 2027, and a Master’s in 2029. Victoria joined the Misericordia Student Occupational Therapy Association (MSOTA) and is part of the cheerleading team. She says cheerleading takes up a lot of her time, but she loves cheering because it also enables her to do community service which she says mean a lot to her. Victoria also joined the MSOTA club for her major and she is thrilled to “meet other people in [her] major, help out, and just do some fun activities with people who have similar interests with [her].” Victoria said she plans to join more clubs and be more involved once cheerleading season is over and she learns more about the clubs around campus.
Hunter Chescavag, freshman Nursing major
He has joined the For the Kids (FTK) club this year because of his experience he has had with it in high school and while being the president of that club in high school. He has also joined the American Sign Language (ASL) club to be able to learn and engage following his nursing career. He states “I joined the Psychology club because they ended up persuading me into it even though I’m a Nursing major. The reason I joined the FTK club was because I did it in High School and was even the President of it then. It honestly means a lot to me to give back to others. I joined the ASL club it was interesting and with nursing I could help so many people.”
Caleb Shea, junior Psychology major, Pre-DPT
Caleb Shea is currently a psychology Pre-DPT major at Misericordia. He has joined the Psychology and Physical Therapy club. He joined them mostly because those clubs relate to his major. “Some events in the past I’ve been to they do ice cream social. For PT we go the Scranton Half Marathon and volunteer it’s a lot of fun and helps my major.”
Mary Grasso, sophomore Occupational Therapy major
Mary’s current clubs are the Psychology club, Crochet club, ASL club, and she is also a part of the track team. She joined the clubs to make more friends and get involve. She says “All the clubs are such a good way to meet new people and have fun. I want to be able to experience new things and broaden my horizon.” She’s excited for activities hopefully coming up.
Paul Harn, senior Management MBA
Paul Harn is a student working in IT and graduating this year of December 2024. He has joined no clubs this year but has worked in the IT. He states “I work with computers a lot so this comes naturally to me. It’s naturally to me to be able to work on computers and help others. I love the problem-solving aspect of computers and learning more. I’m hoping to help with events.”
MyKenna Decker, freshman Mass Communication major, sports specialty
MyKenna joined the Latin American Student Association (LASA), Crochet club, and Cougar Radio. “I currently am running the Cougar Radio with me, Olivia Smith, and Kurtis Kowalski as the music director and help people with music around campus at Misericordia. I’m excited for LASA to learn more about Hispanic culture and meet people. I’m also excited to learn crochet and hopefully be good and it while also working in cougar radio because that relates to the field I want to work in.”
