A Special Thank You From Joyce and Miss Barbara

A+Special+Thank+You+From+Joyce+and+Miss+Barbara

Hello, everyone. We here at The Highlander have been asked by Miss Barbara from who works at Metz Culinary in the John and Mary Metz Dining Hall and her niece, Jocelyn Starr, to thank some very special groups of people on their behalf. Before we thank them, though, we feel you should know the wonderful deeds they have done!

Miss Barbara’s niece Jocelyn, a young girl, was diagnosed with an extremely rare brain cancer for which the survival rate is low. Cancer treatments are very expensive so several groups of people started collections and donated what they could to help Joyce’s cause. Metz Culinary Management at Misericordia has even helped by putting out collection boxes to support young Jocelyn and her family as part of a holiday promotion.

Miss Barbara and Jocelyn would like to thank Anne Marie Narcum, Darcy Brodmerkel, the members of Housekeeping, Student Life, Chick-fil-A, Campus Ministry and students who have donated or plan to donate. Also, they extend a big thank you to Metz Dining, along with its General Manager Paul McMillan, Operations Manager Colin Kovalchek and Retail Manager Donna Walker.

Miss Barbara has expressed how heartwarming it is to see people coming together and helping someone in need. She says it shows Misericordia University is an institution “with a heart.”
