Fourteen-time Grammy-winning performer Taylor Swift will kick off her new world tour right here on campus in late spring 2027.
Showcasing her newest album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” Swift will turn Lemmond Theater into her stage.
Following the huge success of her worldwide “Eras Tour”, Swift decided to return to her Pennsylvania roots and perform at Misericordia on opening night.
Junior mass communications student and event committee member Jessica Carson said working with University staff to arrange the concert felt like a historic moment for Misericordia.
“It was like a dream come true finding out we were able to book Taylor Swift. Everyone is going to lose their minds,” Carson said.
Faculty members who worked toward this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity feel it will be a big surprise to the student body and something students will remember for the rest of their lives.
“Hopefully, when word gets out, the excitement will continue to build to welcome Taylor to our school,” Carson said.
The campus bookstore is even working on Taylor Swift merchandise just for the event. Students will be able to rock Misericordia (Taylor’s version) hoodies and “Life of a Showgirl” T-shirts, which students can purchase from the bookstore located in the Banks Student Center and the online store.
President Dan Myers said he is very much in favor of the plan because he is a secret “Swiftie,” but he claims he will not be hiding it when she sings his favorite song from the album, “Opalite.”
Not only will the global sensation Swift be joining the campus community, but opening for her will be none other than Kanye West.
Pop and rap fans will be able to enjoy the performance together because Swift and West will perform at the same concert for the first time ever.
“Even if you aren’t a Swiftie, you definitely will not regret fighting for tickets,” Carson said.
It is even rumored that her fiancé, Travis Kelce, may accompany Swift for the benefit all the football fans. Archie the Cougar said he hopes to get Kelce’s autograph on a football to throw into the crowd.
The concert is scheduled for March 5, 2027, and tickets are expected to be priced at about $89 for Misericordia students only. The number of tickets available will be limited due to space restrictions in the theater, so students will likely need to refresh their laptops when attempting to buy tickets.
However, there will also be a raffle organized by the Cougar Activity Council to win two tickets for one lucky winner.
Staff will share additional details closer to the date next year.
Everyone should be ready to grab their feather boas and tickets to see the biggest name in music today and be a showgirl with Taylor for the night.
