The Haunting of Erwine Hall

Erwine Hall

On Misericordia’s lower campus sits Erwine Hall, a building seldom seen. As the story goes, the building is haunted, not by human spirits, but by the spirits of lecture.

Rumor has it that late at night, students who peer into the window can see a chemistry exam walking down the hall.

Chanting “humerus” three times in the mirror with the lights off in the bathrooms of the building will call upon a ghost of anatomy and physiology.

In the ceilings hide ghosts of biology, raining mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulum down upon unsuspecting students trying to meet with their professors, though the students can’t see them, given the microscopic cells.

In the doors hide the ghosts of physics, opening and closing doors with no explanation, breaking the laws of physics themselves.

Walking through the halls, one may feel a cold uneasy feeling, indicating the ghost of human structure is with them.

An anonymous nursing student describes an experience at Erwine Hall, detailing encounters with ghosts.

“I knew something was up as soon as I looked inside and saw a floating paper, which I now know to be the ghost of chemistry,” the student stated. “The door opened itself; I wanted to turn around and leave, but something was drawing me forward.”

The student was early to a meeting and decided to take a trip to the restroom.

“I was talking out loud to myself, going over my recent anatomy lecture and the words ‘humerus’ left my mouth a few times. All of a sudden, I saw the apparition of a skeleton in the mirror; I ran out of there fast.”

After the meeting, the student left the building, feeling cold and uneasy.

“As I left, I felt cold, but for some reason, all of my lectures suddenly made sense; something clicked,” the student stated.

The ghosts of Erwine Hall are not to be feared, but welcomed. If students accept these spirits into their lives, they will be met with great success in their coursework.
