Members of the Misericordia University administration have been working together to come up with new strategic plans for the upcoming school year.

Faculty and staff have attended meetings recently to brainstorm ideas about ways to make campus and the university more practical for students.

The goal behind these strategic plans is to bring in potential new students through appealing new incentives.

First, the administration plans to remove the parking lot behind Henry Science Center. An unnamed administrator said, “We have plenty of parking for all students, staff, and faculty so we will be trying to repurpose this lot.”

Next, faculty and staff have decided it would be more appealing to incoming students if a rule of no off-campus living is enforced.

“We have asked many students here on campus and the consensus from all of them is that students don’t want to live off campus and they don’t feel there’s a reason for it to be offered,” said a staff member.

Administrators are looking for ways to attract new students and they feel these incentives will do the trick.

Another thing the administration is planning to do is turn the townhouses into classrooms rather than housing for students.

“We have found that students have chosen to live in other on-campus living options due to the townhouses not being a favored place to live among students,” said an administrator. “They will be turned into classrooms instead since we are short on classrooms at this moment.”

Students have been asked how they feel about these new plans.

“I have no problem with these new plans and I think this is what’s best for the university in order to appeal to current students and to even attract new students,” said one student. “I’m happy about the new plans the administration is coming up with.”

The last thing the administration has planned for fall 2023 is tearing down the section of Banks that houses Chick-Fil-A and Poblanos.

“Poblanos and Chick-Fil-A aren’t bringing in as much money as we thought they originally would so we are building a new, bigger campus store in place of Chick-Fil-A and Poblanos,” said one faculty member.

These new strategic plans will be implemented starting in fall 2023. Administrators are happy to answer student recommendations.
