Misericordia Documentary set to Film in Summer 2023
A documentary film is in the works about the history of Misericordia University. The film is set to be produced by Rocket Films, a midwest-based film production company.
This film will capture Misericordia’s history from its founding to its current state, documenting historic moments in both academics and athletics.
Rocket Films is known for its documentaries, having produced multiple documentaries capturing the college world. Its mission is to “rocket” attention to smaller universities across the United States.
The production company is looking for students and faculty from all majors and departments to take part in the film to offer their input about Misericordia’s history.
Some Misericordia staff have already agreed to take part, including Dr. Auker, Dr. Sgroi and Dr. Austin, as well as one of Dr. Austin’s colleagues.
Austin is excited to share this opportunity with his colleague.
“Dr. — and I, we’re very excited to take part in this; it’s a great way to capture the community,” said Austin.
The purpose of faculty taking part in the filming process is to allow the production company to obtain personalized information and stories about the school it otherwise would not be able to learn.
Current and past students will give the documentary the student-experience, detailing how current students are studying at the school as well as the success stories of past students.
Certain buildings will also be documented in this film, such as the building of the new Henry Science Center as well as the history of Mercy Hall, the oldest and largest building on campus.
Every building has a story behind it. Given the small campus, this documentary will give detailed stories about the buildings and, most importantly, to whom they are dedicated.
The documentary will also highlight other aspects of the school such as enrollment numbers since its founding to current service projects done by students and how Misericordia has impacted the Dallas community.
You may catch students filming themselves around campus, as the documentary looks to include a “day in the life” of a Misericordia student. One lucky student’s footage will be used in the production.
Filming will begin in summer 2023 and, although a release date has not yet been set, Rocket Films says it can be expected to air mid-2024.
