What are your goals for the season?
My personal goals for the season include placing in the top 3 at the MAC Championship in the 100 Breaststroke. I also wish to swim all personal best times in my races.
How much do they differ from the team’s overall goal?
As for team goals, I hope for everyone to train as hard as they can and to have fun as a team this season. We mostly share a common goal on the team and that is to train hard, and to have fun.
How did you prepare for the season?
I prepared for this season by making sure I trained appropriately over the summer, and during pre-season. I found quality over quantity to be a very effective training method during the offseason.
How do you personally prepare both mentally and physically for a meet?
I mentally prepare for a meet by remaining calm about it, and not stressing over it. When I am having fun at meets with my team, that is when I swim the best. Physically, I make sure I eat the right foods on the day of a meet and stretch out appropriately so that my body feels ready to race come meet time.
What is your favorite event to swim?
My favorite event to swim is the 100 breaststroke. I have been swimming this race for many years now and I enjoy seeing how much faster I can swim it each year.
Do you prefer individual events or relay events?
I personally enjoy relay events more. I think it is a ton of fun to swim races with your teammates and good friends and the crowd normally gets really into these events. It makes them all the more exciting and it gets me excited to race in them.
What is your greatest highlight so far while at MU?
My greatest highlight was at the MAC Championship during my freshman year when myself and three other teammates won the 400 Medley Relay and set the school record. It was the most exciting race I’ve been apart of and it proved to me that hard work pays off in this sport.
