What were some of your expectations/goals for this season?
My major goals for this cross country season were to improve on my times from last year and to become stronger as a team by placing higher in the conference and regional standings.
How did you approach this season differently?
This season, I increased my mileage for summer training so that I would have a stronger showing later in the season. Also, coach adjusted our workouts so that we would get faster as the season went on.
How did yourself develop both mentally and physically in the offseason?
Physically, I put more miles in than I had done during the previous season which made me more confident. Mentally, the confidence in my performance carried over to my races which helped me run faster times.
Did you see the same with the overall team?
This year we have a lot of underclassmen who also put in the work during the off season which helped the team. Also, the upperclassmen are using their experience to help improve the team
Did you run into any complications when balancing your schoolwork with your sports schedule?
So far I have not run into any problems balancing a sport with my schoolwork
Did you feel pressure to repeat any success your team had last season?
I felt a little more pressured from last season because we had lost a couple runners from last season which meant that I would have to pick up the slack
What are you looking to improve about your overall game?
Overall, I want to improve on finishing my races so that I can place higher in races and have better times
What are you doing to make those improvements?
To make these improvements, I train harder during workouts
What do you feel your personal strengths are?
Some of my major strengths are my speed and endurance as well as racing smart.
Do you feel you guys exceeded expectations this season?
So far our season has been decent, we placed high earlier in the season but we still want to place high in the postseason races such as MAC’s and Regionals.
