With only two seniors on this years roster, what leadership roles do you have for the team?
I think my role is to lead by example. Coming to practice everyday and giving 100% pushes my teammates to do the same.
Where do you see your team stacking up against the MAC competition?
I think we are capable of beating any team in the conference when we play up to our potential. Another championship isn’t out of the question.
What game did/do you look forward to playing the most this season?
The MAC Championship of course. I would love to get back there again. This one would mean so much more to me personally since I was only on the team for half of the season and didn’t play much last season.
What adjustments do you see the team having to make in order to repeat your teams success of winning the MAC?
I think our problems as a team are mostly mental mistakes. If we stay focus and execute the way we’re taught, we can definitely repeat.
Do you feel added pressure defending the MAC title?
Not really. Most of this years team is new so they are still getting adjusted. The returning players are just eager to get back to championship. Last year’s title has nothing to do with this year’s.
Where does most of the pressure come from? (within the team, fan base, personal, etc.)
Most of the pressure comes from ourselves. We all have the same goal. Once we are all focused and on the same page we will reach that goal.
So far, what was the biggest obstacle you had to take on this season?
Our winter tournament at St. Mary’s was our toughest obstacle so far. We got beat by two really good teams and it was a humbling experience. We realized we had a lot of work to do in order to be real contenders.
Being an upperclassman, what advice do you share with the underclassman that are either new or got little to no playing time?
Stay positive and keep working hard. You never know when you will be needed to step up. Everybody has to be mentally and physically prepared when they step onto the court.
